Presbyterians Organized in Nurture & Teaching

Presbyterians Organized in Nurture & Teaching (POINT) will gather for training January 26-27, 2010 in Nashville, Tennessee. How Deep is Your Well? is this year's theme. Participants will explore what it means to embrace, nurture, and commit to a deeper and wider faith as the body of Christ called to grow Christ's Church Deep and Wide.

The event schedule will include plenary framed in worship, new-to-Point orientation, a presbytery staff gathering,  group process, exploration of Web sites and tools, and an in-depth experience with an age-specific session of the revitalized We Believe to discover how our denominational curriculum helps congregations nurture disciples into a deeper and wider faith.

Dr. Susan E. Hylen, Assistant Professor of New Testament, Vanderbilt University Divinity School, will be our guest. Dr. Hylen, who teaches biblical interpretation and focuses her research on the characterizations, metaphor, and irony in the gospel of John, will offer insights about what a deep and wide faith look like. She will lead a process around tables for participants to articulate their own expressions of faith and to experience corporate discernment on the depth of faith.
